MILAN, March 10 (Class Editori) — John Richmond does an encore in China. The brand founded by the English designer and now under the wings of the Arav Group, led by Mena Marano, a Neapolitan entrepreneur who also controls Silvian Heach and MARCOBOLOGNA, took to the catwalk in Hangzhou for the second time, to unveil the FW 2022/23 men's and women's collection.
The "Lead me to temptation" show, which welcomed over 300 people in the Qiantang River area, followed its Shanghai debut in March 2021 and the expansion plan in the Asian market finalized with local partner Wealth Rise.
The first flagship store will open its doors in Shanghai in May and will be followed by three more openings.
"In March we will close the company's balance sheet with a 35% increase on 2020 and a +40% for John Richmond. We are incredibly happy, the brand is gathering a strong interest from all over the market, even from young people," Mena Marano explained to MFF.
"In Italy, the brand is being relocated in high-end boutiques, while in September we will return to fashion shows with a format featuring an innovative and futuristic concept. We want to invest in everything that is physical, so we plan to come back with kidswear at the next Pitti Uomo".
The entrepreneur pointed out that today foreign countries contribute to about half of the turnover, but this is going to increase thanks to the dynamism in different areas. "The focus remains on the Middle East with new projects in Cairo, while we are not yet distributing in America, but many partners have been contacting us," Marano added.
"In order to support the growth plan, we have expanded our operations team. Rossano Garisto will be the Commercial Director for Arav's global development and we are hiring other marketing professionals". As for the collection, John Richmond, the brand's founder and designer, added: "I mixed different codes from my past, with 70s and 80s vibes. It is a wardrobe for a strong and smart woman, as well as ironic, thanks to evocative garments with vibrant colours expressing freedom and fun after COVID-19," he concluded.
Arav was founded in 2002 with the Silvian Heach project: an easy to wear, easy to understand women's fashion brand, conceived thanks to the clear and ambitious idea shared by the two founding partners, Mena Marano and Giuseppe Ammaturo. The company has been a commercial success since its first year of activity, paving the way for the expansion of the main Silvian Heach brand through a massive retail franchising development plan both in Italy and abroad.
