MILAN, March 3 (Class Editori) — With a growth close to 30% in 2021, the Chinese branch of Brembo, the multinational Group that produces braking systems for motor and two-wheeled vehicles, placed China's market among the top three for the company, together with Germany and the US, but before Italy.
The data emerged today, among the numbers communicated by Matteo Tiraboschi, the company's Executive Chairman, on the close of fiscal year 2021, in which consolidated sales exceeded 2.7 billion euros, up by 25.8% on 2020 and more than 7% on 2019, and profit (215 million euros) increased by 57%. Margins improved considerably, with an EBITDA of 502 million euros, which is 18% of revenues.
India, where Brembo is the absolute leader in terms of 2-wheel vehicles, recorded a growth as well of 28.2% (+32.4% at constant exchange rates), with 93 million euros in revenues. In China, revenues amounted to 436 million euros in 2021, compared to 499 million euros in Germany and 321 million euros in Italy. In North America, including the markets of US, Canada and Mexico, the aggregate turnover amounted to 680 million euros, growing by 25.2% (+29.1% at constant exchange rates).
As for market segments, car applications — which account for just over 2 billion euros in sales — grew by 22.1%, motorcycles applications grew by 55.2% (+42.6% net of perimeter), commercial vehicles grew by 26.3%, while the racing sector grew by 22.7%.
At the end of last year, Brembo launched its braking system SENSIFY — the result of a ten-years-work in continuous evolution by the Inspiration Lab in the Silicon Valley — in China as well, with the aim to equip its electric vehicles and its Chinese production units, including Tesla, NIO and Xpeng Motors. In China, Brembo is taking advantage of the strong demand in this market segment.
