BEIJING, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- China's exports of photovoltaic (PV) products exceeded 28.4 billion U.S. dollars last year, as the demand from the PV market continued increasing due to a faster global response to climate change, according to data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Tuesday.
The country's PV industry grew steadily in 2021, against the backdrop of its promise to peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. The supply chain remained generally secure and stable last year, with the annual output of polysilicon, silicon wafer, battery and module reaching 505,000 tonnes, 227GW, 198GW and 182GW, up 27.5 percent, 40.6 percent, 46.9 percent and 46.1 percent year on year, respectively.
Empowered by a quickened integration of 5G, artificial intelligence, industrial internet and other next generation information technologies with the PV industry, smart PV sector that includes smart manufacturing, operation and maintenance developed rapidly in China last year.
