BEIJING, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- North China's Shanxi province has opened a total of 9 regular international routes of China-Europe freight train since 2017, connecting 27 cities in 12 countries along the Belt and Road routes, reported Taiyuan Daily citing statistics from Huayuan International Land Port, the operator of Shanxi's China-Europe freight train business.

In the past five years, a total of 596 trains have been handled, including 497 outbound ones and 99 trains on the return journey, with an aggregated cargo weight of 564,600 tons and a value of 7.837 billion yuan. Specifically, in 2021 alone, a total of 223 China-Europe freight trains were launched in Shanxi province.
In 2022, with the aim of building an international logistics and trade complex, Shanxi will continue to promote the China-Europe freight train supplementary chain construction and continuously optimize business models to better promote high-quality development in an all-round way.
