BEIJING, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Bishan, a district situated in western Chongqing, southwest China, is devoting to new urban branding to press ahead with urban development of higher quality at present.
The district, which sits in the core area of Western (Chongqing) Science City and Chengdu-Chongqing dual city economic circle, aims to build itself into a star district characterized by being models in five aspects such as sci-tech innovation, manufacturing development, integrated development, business environment and opening up.
By now, Bishan has attracted a host of research institutes and high-tech businesses to settle down. In Bishan innovative eco-community, the hustle and bustle of local R&D teams and investment promotion public staffs casts spotlight on the district crafting ideal pools of innovation resources. Apart from the eco-community, an innovation town, an eco-zone for digital economy with a field of 10 square kilometers, and an eco-area integrating production and education are also under construction.
Meanwhile, Bishan district is vigorously improving its advantages in sci-tech innovation by adhering to growing research institute economy, promoting integrated development of government, producers, higher education institutions, research institutes and sci-tech application.
Public data showed that 1,724 enterprises have been operating businesses in the high-tech zone in Bishan district, including 335 large enterprises. 30 research institutes have been constructed and drew 618 researchers to join in. Their gross revenues from main business exceeded two billion yuan.
The district attributed the gathering of innovative enterprises to its pleasant business environment and convenient public services, which made local enterprises develop without unnecessary worries over the development environment.
Apart from promoting sci-tech innovation and cultivating sound business environment, Bishan also poured efforts into boosting manufacturing industry, integrated development and opening up.
Recent years, key enterprises represented by Chongqing Tsingshan Industrial Co., Ltd. in Bishan district have brought up upgrading of local traditional industries and strategically emerging industries sprang up thanks to related businesses of BYD, Konka, and Dawning Information Industry Co., Ltd.
Gong Weilun, general manager of Chongqing Tsingshan Industrial Co., Ltd., said that on July 27, 2020, the company rolled off its production line the 25 millionth auto speed charger and its products effectively satisfied the demand for high-torque automatic transmissions nationwide.
Bishan district cultivated four industrial clusters centered upon smart equipment, new energy vehicles, semi-conductor and big health and made manufacturing industry a new driver of local economic growth.
By deploying industrial chains-centric innovation chains, Bishan fostered fine integration between innovation chains, industrial chains, capital chains and policy chains. Regardless of others, the district utilized digital technologies to boost smart upgrading of local economy and smart transformation of local enterprises.
For opening up, Bishan district joined construction of the Belt and Road and development of West China, strengthened industrial cooperation with EU countries, and expanded trade-related investment in the ASEAN region and south Asia.
Aside from the economic development measures, Bishan district also targets shaping itself into a model district for good ecology, profound culture, ideal living and vibrant talent attraction.
