InfoQuest (January 6, 2022) -- According to the Trade Policy and Strategy Office of the Ministry of Commerce, Thailand saw its consumer price index (CPI) or general inflation rate up 2.17 percent in December 2021 from last year, but down 0.38 percent from last month. The average general inflation rate was 1.23 percent last year.
In last December, the core CPI or general inflation rate grew by 0.29 percent from the previous year and 0.05 percent from last month, with an average general inflation rate of 0.23 percent last year.
The Ministry of Commerce expected the inflation to range between 0.7 percent and 2.4 percent in 2022, with a median of 1.5 percent, close to the value announced in early December 2021. Despite the outbreak of Omicron strain in Thailand, there is no sign that the inflation rate in 2022 will deviate significantly from the earlier forecast.
