Despite the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Horgos Port has been actively taking measures such as expanding its routes and cutting down customs clearance time to boost transportation capacity. BEIJING, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Horgos comprehensive bonded zone in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has entered a fast track of development with its cross-border e-commerce business exceeding 1.69 billion yuan in 2021, according to the zone's statistics available on Sunday.

The Horgos comprehensive bonded zone conducted its first cross-border e-commerce business in January 1, 2022 by dealing with 35,668 parcels worth a total value of 11.202 million US dollars shipped from south China's Shenzhen to Hungary and Belgium.

Based on digital customs clearance system, the electronic list of goods can be declared to the customs during domestic transportation for quick inspection and release after the goods arrive at Horgos comprehensive bonded zone, said Ren Yali, a manager with a cross-border e-commerce enterprise based in Horgos.

The goods can complete the customs transit formalities in Kazakhstan within 2 days, and then arrive at overseas warehouses in Hungary in 8 days through Asia-Europe expressway, Ren added.

It is noted that a "lift" passage has also been set up along the China-Kazakhstan border to ensure the safety of people and outbound cargo from two countries and minimize the impact of COVID-19 on customs clearance.
