MILAN, Dec. 14 (Class Editori) — Samag and COSCO will team up to support Made in Italy. The company operating in the logistics industry and providing outsourcing solutions announced that it has signed and started a partnership agreement with China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO) through its subsidiary Air Ocean Cargo.
The collaboration was launched in the framework of 2022 Italy-China Year of Culture and Tourism and confirmed the interest of China in Made-in-Italy products and in the Italian market. By now, Samag is the only Italian private company that started a new partnership with an important Chinese firm.
According to the agreement signed with COSCO, Air Ocean Cargo, which has recently been totally acquired by Samag, could reach and depart from the Port of Shanghai with a considerable number of containers which will gradually increase over the next months. In more detail, thanks to the cooperation between the two groups, Made-in-Italy goods produced by the textile and fashion industries —that are strategically interested in enhancing their presence in China— will land on the Chinese market and vice versa.
This partnership represents a further step in the Italian Group’s internationalization process started last year and explained in its 2021-2024 Industrial Plan.
"For Samag, the partnership with COSCO represents an additional acknowledgment of the work done over the last years to keep supporting the company’s growth," Claudio Torchia, General Director of Samag Holding Logistics, said. "The interest of a sector's giant able to open doors to the main global market turns us into a point of reference for the Italian production system, which is increasingly attracted by the Chinese market and by the reinforcement of direct trade with Asia. The partnership with COSCO will keep consolidating both in terms of sea and air transport".
"After a few weeks from the acquisition, Air Ocean Cargo could contribute to the enhancement of collaboration and dialogue between Italy and China," Claudio Zavardino, Chairman of Air Ocean Cargo, highlighted. "Over the years we have created an important commercial link with China, evidenced by the fact that we are now present in the country both with shipping and logistics services. This agreement will allow us to further strengthen the ties that ideally unite two nations that are as different as they are profoundly close," he added.
With a consolidated turnover of 195 million euros in 2020, today Samag Holding Logistics has more than 5,500 employees and runs over 110 plants.
