The coronavirus vaccine manufacturer BioNTech generated a net profit of around 3.2 billion euros (3.7 billion dollars) in the third quarter of 2021. Profits in the first nine months of the year rose to 7.1 billion euros, the German company announced. A year ago it reported losses of around 210 million in the third quarter and 352 million euros over nine months.
Turnover, which is mainly driven by the success of the coronavirus vaccine produced jointly with US partner Pfizer, rose to just under 6.1 billion euros between July and September, compared with 67.5 million euros in the same period last year.
Between January and the end of September, turnover was 13.44 billion euros compared with just under 140 million euros a year ago.
