GUANGZHOU, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Guangzhou port in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou is expected to see a 5.9 percent year-on-year growth in container throughput in the first 11 months of this year, according to the Guangzhou Port Group Friday.
Roughly 20.62 million twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers and 484.5 million tonnes of cargos are estimated to have been handled via the port during the period, said the company.
Since the beginning of this year, Guangzhou Port has vigorously expanded its foreign trade liner routes. A net increase of 20 foreign trade routes was reported, and the number of international container liner routes has now reached 140.
From January to November, the port's foreign trade cargo throughput and foreign trade container throughput achieved positive growth for 11 consecutive months, with year-on-year increases of 14.8 percent and 11 percent, respectively.
