BEIJING, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- The fourth Belt and Road (B&R) Conference of Investment Matching for Chinese and Italian Enterprises was held online on Friday, in a bid to further boost bilateral cooperation on the Digital Silk Road (DSR).
The conference was jointly organized by China Economic Information Service (CEIS) of Xinhua News Agency and Class Editori, a leading media group in Italy.

During the conference, participants conducted in-depth exchanges over topics such as the investment opportunities for Italian enterprises on the DSR and international capital along the Belt and Road, etc.
Since March 2019 when China and Italy signed the Memorandum of Understanding on joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the two countries have made significant achievements in port construction, cruise ship manufacturing and third-party markets.
From January to October this year, the bilateral trade exceeded 390.2 billion yuan, up 27 percent year on year, customs data showed.

China is a beneficiary of digital technology and is expanding the space for digital development, noted Li Junhua, Chinese Ambassador to Italy, adding that China and Italy could give full play to their respective advantages and cooperate closely in technology, capital, market and business so as to open up new prospects for cooperation on the DSR.

Italy and other European countries have realized that cooperation on the DSK is an important part of enterprises' participation in the BRI. In the future, Italy will actively integrate into relevant industries and propel China-Italy cooperation into a new stage, said Paolo Panerai, Editor in Chief and CEO of Class Editori.

Italy has high-end manufacturing, fashion clothing, specialty agricultural products and other high-quality products, while China has a huge consumer market. In the future, the "digital Silk Road" linked by e-commerce platforms will surely foster new impetus for economic growth and open up new space for cooperation between the two countries, said Xu Yuchang, chairman and president of CEIS.
At the beginning of 2019, CEIS and Class Editori launched the Italian version of Xinhua Silk Road, a comprehensive information service platform to provide the latest news, data and projects information of BRI.
