The Group — specialized in the production of welding machines, spot welding machines, plasma cutting systems, battery chargers and starters — expanded thanks to the diffusion of premium cars in the PRC, mostly imported from Europe. "In China our target is mainly represented by the network of specialized repair centers of major car brands," the manager explained. "The Chinese automotive market sharply grew over the last years thanks to an increasingly wider number of people owning a car, and we have always been there. EVs are the new challenge: we know that the maintenance of an electric car includes new needs as, for example, a vaster amount of aluminum used to build the product instead of steel, and this requires an upgrade also in maintenance equipment. This is surely an opportunity for our Group that makes the difference in terms of technologies for high-quality production".
Telwin, founded in 1963 by Giovanni Spillere, the current President, has always had a particular international vocation, so much so that in 1980 70% of its revenues were linked to exports. Today, it is present on all 5 continents, on over 120 markets and employs 250 collaborators, with a turnover of about 50 million euros, 80% of which comes from exports.
"We started in the 90s from Hong Kong and then we had only one distributor in Beijing. In 2009, with the market growth, we strengthened our presence through a commercial branch, and, in the last five years, we opened a production site dedicated to some models of battery chargers," Spillere explained. "The physical presence in Lanxi, in Zhejiang Province, surely helps us to better understand this market. It is the only exception to the company's policy of producing exclusively in Vicenza-based headquarters," he concluded.
The innovative company premises are not by chance called the "The Home of Welding", with an area of 120,000 square meters and modern productive plants, lean robotic lines, specialized development and testing laboratories and automated stores.
Since its foundation, the company has distinguished itself for its strong propensity for innovation and development of new technologies. In 1985, in order to strengthen its international perspective, the company changed its name to Telwin (TELitalia Welding International). Over the years, the offer has been further expanded and today the Group covers the automotive, industrial, professional and consumer sectors.
The company revolves around the R&D center, with specialized development and testing laboratories where technicians work daily: each year between 5% and 10% of revenues are reinvested in research.
