BEIJING, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) – The Lingang new area of Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) has witnessed the signing of 42 major projects involving a total investment of nearly 28 billion yuan in the past two years, reported The Paper Tuesday.
The projects mainly cover leading industries like integrated circuits, high-end equipment manufacturing, bio-medicine, and modern service industries such as new international trade, cross-border financial services, and urban shipping services.
Lingang area has been making great efforts in institutional innovations, special economic function zone and urban city construction. It has achieved fruitful results in scientific and technological innovation and ecological environment construction, which has further driven the economic development of Shanghai FTZ.
Specifically, the Lingang area provides momentum for developing special economic function zones through policy supports, completing the transfer of land for 68 industrial projects and industrial investment of 63.4 billion yuan in two years. It has registered 200 billion yuan in industrial output value and new service industry revenue in 2020.
This year, the Lingang area will establish an intelligent new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturing industry cluster with a designed output of 600,000 NEVs, which will become the first industry cluster with output value of more than 100 billion yuan in the area.
Meanwhile, the construction of the characteristic parks in the area will focus on cultivating more than 100 integrated circuit enterprises and 80 biomedical enterprises, with planned investment of 150 billion yuan and 50 billion yuan, respectively.
According to the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), the Lingang area is expected to initially build a particular economic functional area featuring strong international market influence and competitiveness by 2025 and become the critical node of Shanghai's "dual circulation" development paradigm .
