Given rising demand for batteries across all industries, German technology group Bosch wants to earn more from the sale of batteries and battery technology. Bosch hopes for a jump in sales in this area from around 100 million euros last year to around 250 million euros (293 million dollars) by 2025, the group announced on Thursday.
For the entire period between 2020 and 2025, Bosch aims to generate sales of 1 billion euros in the sector, including from the sale of entire factory suites of equipment for battery production. As a conglomerate, Bosch is active in many fields; for example, it also produces batteries for the automotive industry and other sectors.
In terms of sales, the industrial technology division is the smallest of the four central corporate divisions in the Bosch Group. By far the most important is the subcontracting division for the automotive industry, which last year accounted for well over half of the total turnover of 71.5 billion euros.
Other central corporate divisions are consumer goods as well as energy and building technology divisions. Bosch is headquartered in Gerlingen near Stuttgart in the south-west of Germany and employs 395,000 people worldwide.
