BEIJING, Aug. 12(Xinhua) -- Shipments of 5G phones in China grew 64.1 percent year on year to 22.834 million units in July of this year, data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) showed.
The volume accounted for 79.6 percent of the country's total mobile phone shipments during the period, said the CAICT, a research institute under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
In the first seven months, the overall mobile phone shipments in China rose 15.6 percent year on year to 203 million units. Among them, 5G mobile phone shipments were 151 million units, up 94.3 percent year-on-year, accounting for 74.3 percent of total mobile phone shipments in the period.
It is learned that as of the end of July 2021, 5G mobile phone shipments in China amounted to 327 million units.
