BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhua) -- The output value of China's marine economy reached 4 trillion yuan in the first half of 2021, a year-on-year increase of 12.5 percent, with most indicators within a reasonable range, showing a steady and positive trend of marine economy, official statistics from Ministry of Natural Resources indicated.

The emerging marine industries continue to recover rapidly. The newly added on-grid capacity of offshore wind power amounted to 2.15 million kilowatts in the first half, a year-on-year increase of 102.0 percent. The profitability of the marine medicine and biological products industry kept improving.
Besides, traditional marine industries are steadily developing. The output of offshore crude oil and offshore natural gas has increased by 6.9 percent and 6.3 percent year-on-year respectively.
In terms of marine shipbuilding industry, the demand in the international shipping market has rebounded rapidly, and the number of newly received shipping orders increased by 247.3 percent year-on-year, the highest level during the same period in past decade, which accounted for more than 50 percent of the global share.
Besides, total value of seaborne imports and exports increased by 28.3 percent year-on-year in the first half, of which exports increased by 29.6 percent year-on-year, and imports increased by 26.5 percent year-on-year.
