BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) -- China's cloud computing market grew remarkably in 2020, reaching 209.1 billion yuan and registering a surge of 56.6 percent year on year, reported Economic Information Daily Wednesday quoting a white paper released Tuesday by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT).
According to the white paper, the siphonic effect of cloud computing in the industry has begun to appear in China, bringing profound changes to computing services, management models, security systems, and digital transformation.
Cloud computing is an important force to promote the digital transformation of the economy and society, and China has been making efforts to boost its development.
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) have recently issued a three-year action plan for the development of new data centers, proposing to promote computing power enhancement and empowerment and carry out data and cloud collaboration projects.
Efforts whould be made to continuously optimize the layout of new infrastructure such as cloud computing and data centers, and improve key technologies, services and application standard systems of such centers, so as to improve the credibility of cloud computing-related services and products, and promote the high-quality development of cloud computing and data center industries, said Chen Jiachun, an official with the information and communications development department of MIIT.
Chen also pointed out that more work would be carried out on promoting enterprises to move system resources and core business onto cloud platforms and use the cloud platform as the digital base to fully empower the digital transformation of enterprises.
At the same time, the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain would increase support for cloud computing common development platforms and common solutions, cultivate industrial innovation centers and innovative service complexes, and speed up innovations on key cloud computing technologies, Chen stated.
Also, he proposed to give full play to the leading role and technology spillover effects of key leading enterprises to improve the industrial ecosystem.
