BEIJING, June 28 (Xinhua) -- A new China-Europe freight train service linking Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province and Duisburg of Germany was launched on last Friday, reported Chinanews.com Sunday.
The freight train loaded with 100 standard containers of products such as small household appliance and lamps. It will pass through Horgos Port in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and arrive in Duisburg in 18 days.
The new freight train service provided more choices for Guangdong's home appliance exports by offering freight services with lower cost and higher transport efficiency, according to a local home appliance manufacture, adding that Guangdong's home appliance exports continued to grow in the first five months of this year due to strong demand in overseas markets amid the epidemic.
At present, more than 70 percent of goods shipped by the China-Europe freight trains in Guangzhou come from manufacturers in the Pearl River Delta region. As of June 26, a total of 67 China-Europe freight trains were set from Guangzhou this year, up 123.33 percent year on year, contributing import and export volume of more than 2 billion yuan.
