BEIJING, June 17 (Xinhua) -- The number of e-sports users in China is expected to reach 425 million in 2021, according to a report on the development of China's e-sports industry in 2021 released on Wednesday in Haikou, south China's Hainan Province.
It says that the past five years have been a golden period for the development of China's e-sports industry driven by policy support and promotion of various parties in the industry chain, and e-sports is making a leap from community culture to popular culture as the industry keeps growing and gaining public recognition.
It also says that the global e-sports audience will grow to 474 million in 2021, and the global revenue of e-sports competitions is likely to reach 1.084 billion U.S. dollars.
China will have the largest number of core e-sports enthusiasts which will reach 92.8 million, followed by the United States and Brazil, says the report.
