Central China's Hunan sees foreign trade with B&R countries surge in first four months

Abstract : Central China's Hunan Province saw its foreign trade with the Belt and Road countries increase 11.8 percent year on year to 44.25 billion yuan in the first four months of this year, according to Changsha Customs.

BEIJING, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Central China's Hunan Province saw its foreign trade with the Belt and Road countries increase 11.8 percent year on year to 44.25 billion yuan in the first four months of this year, according to Changsha Customs.

From January to April, Hunan's exports of high-tech products grew 40.4 percent year on year to 3.49 billion yuan, while its exports of labor-intensive products amounted to 8.52 billion yuan, a decrease of 17.5 percent from the same period of last year, the customs said.

In terms of imported agricultural products, the province's imports of corn, dried and fresh melons and nuts, as well as edible vegetable oi grew significantly, while imports of meat and milk powder slid during the period.

Vietnam remained Hunan's largest trade partner with the Belt and Road countries during the first four months of this year.

The province saw the trade with Vietnam accounted for 14.5 percent of its total trade volume with B&R countries during the period.

Besides, Hunan's trade with Thailand, Indonesia, and India also increased by 59 percent, 88.9 percent and 27.1 percent, respectively. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
