E. China’s Jiangsu strives for integrated development of sports and tourism industries

Abstract : The Provincial Sports Bureau and the Department of Culture and Tourism of east China's Jiangsu Province on Monday jointly released an action plan to deepen the integrated development of the provincial sports and tourism industries, aiming to create a new engine for economic growth and meet the people's needs for high-quality life during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).

BEIJING, May 25 (Xinhua) -- The Provincial Sports Bureau and the Department of Culture and Tourism of east China's Jiangsu Province on Monday jointly released an action plan to deepen the integrated development of the provincial sports and tourism industries, aiming to create a new engine for economic growth and meet the people's needs for high-quality life during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).

According to the plan, Jiangsu will carry out various activities to create a series of branded events such as activities related with the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Grand Canal, organize more sports events such as marathons and bicycles that are widely participated by the masses and have strong tourism-driven functions, cultivate and identify a batch of demonstration bases and innovative projects for the integrated development of sports and tourism.

Deepening the integration of sports and tourism and developing sports tourism is an inevitable trend for promoting the transformation and upgrading of the tourism industry, as well as an inevitable choice for promoting the quality and efficiency of the sports industry, said Chen Shaojun, director of the Jiangsu Provincial Sports Bureau.
