BEIJING, May 24 (Xinhua) -- A guideline for high-quality development of the central China formulated by the Chinese authorities has been distributed to local governments which are studying and formulating plans for implementation, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News reported on Monday.
It is reported that efforts will be made to support the central China to develop the advanced manufacturing industry, and promote development of urban agglomerations in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and the Central Plain.
The central China has made significant progress in areas such as advanced manufacturing, modern agriculture, and all-round opening up, and the region is expected to become a new economic growth pole in the future, said Zhang Jianhua, Dean of the School of Economics of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
Central China is rich in resources, with a well-developed transportation system and a good industrial foundation. It is of significance to promote high-quality development in the central region, according to Ye Qing, deputy director of the Hubei Provincial Statistics Bureau.
Central China, including the six provinces of Shanxi, Henan, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan and Jiangxi, is one of the fastest growing regions in the country. In 2019, the total economic output of the six provinces was approximately 21.8 trillion yuan, accounting for 22 percent of the national GDP.
