BEIJING, May 20 (Xinhua) -- The coal-fired power project in Sihanoukville Port of Cambodia, invested and constructed by China Huadian Corporation, is proceeding smoothly.
The Sihanohkville coal-fired power project is currently the largest power plant under construction in Cambodia. Developed and constructed under BOO (build-own-operate) model, the main project started construction on August 18, 2020. The first unit is scheduled to be put into operation at the end of 2022 and the second in March 2023. The annual average power generation after completion is expected to reach about 5.2 billion kWh.
According to local relevant person in charge, the project has achieved important milestones such as concrete pouring and chimney foundation as scheduled. Meanwhile, it provided jobs for nearly 1,000 local employees.
