MACAO, May 7 (Xinhua) -- The Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) recorded 167,000 visitor arrivals from May 1 to 5, the May Day holiday in the mainland, the Macao Government Tourism Office said on Friday.
Of the visitors, about 156,000 were from the mainland, according to the office.
The daily average number of visitor arrivals to Macao stood at 33,000, up 158.2 percent from that during the Chinese New Year holiday week in February and up 25.4 percent from that in April, said the office.
The number of visitor arrivals on May 1 reached 45,000, the highest daily record since the COVID-19 outbreak, said the office.
The average hotel occupancy rate during the May Day holiday reached 83.2 percent, up 34.6 percentage points from the figure in the Chinese New Year holiday week.
The daily average of visitor arrivals during the May Day holiday recovered to 21.1 percent of that in the same period of 2019 before the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. Hotel occupancy rate recovered to 96.6 percent of the level in the same period of 2019. Enditem
