BEIJING, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Central China's Henan Province post robust growth in its foreign trade in the first quarter of 2021, local customs said recently.

Henan's total import and export volume surged 79.3 percent year on year to reach 192.08 billion yuan during the period, according to Zhengzhou Customs.

The province's foreign trade growth rate is 50.1 percentage points higher than the national average, ranking sixth in the country.

Data showed that in the first quarter, the total foreign trade volume in the Henan Comprehensive Bonded Zone amounted to 121.71 billion yuan, up 97.4 percent year on year.

Private enterprises played a vital role in driving the province's foreign trade. Their foreign trade rose at a faster pace of 125.7 percent year on year to 77.9 billion yuan during the period, accounting for nearly 40.6 percent of the province's total foreign trade.

The province's exports were dominated by mobile phones, labor-intensive products, and human hair products while the major commodities imported by the province were integrated circuits, audio and video parts, as well as metal ore.

The United States, the European Union, ASEAN and the Republic of Korea are the province's major trade partners. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
