InfoQuest (April 21, 2021) - According to Mr. Vittayakorn Maneenate, Deputy Director of the Department of International Trade Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce, the Department adopted measures to open up overseas markets for Thai agricultural products. In particular, Thailand saw its fruit export up 109.70 percent from last year from January to February, 2021.
The Department will also introduce multiple projects and activities to boost fruit exports in 2021.
I.Hold online talks on trade of fresh fruits and processed fruit products.
II.Hold the "Taste of Thailand 2021" event with 16 branches of Hyundai in Korea.
III.Promote Thai fruits with 150 branches including AEON, Donki, Itoyokado Store and Beisia in Japan.
IV.Hold the Thai Fruits Golden Months in China.
Moreover, the Department, together with several fruit associations, employs a range of measures to prevent COVID-19, so as to build up the confidence of foreign importers.
As reported, some countries unpacked their fruits when Thai fruit containers passed through these countries and then transported these fruits to China by land. After investigation, it was found that such practice was almost impossible. Also, fruits passing through other countries will be subject to strict investigation and any products not conforming to the requirements shall be returned or destroyed.
The Department has ordered Thai business diplomats abroad to pay close attention to the matter.
The Department serves as an intermediary for exporters, importers, government-level commerce bureaus, business diplomats and relevant organizations at home and abroad, and will continue to facilitate smooth export of various products and seek the greatest benefits for Thai enterprises and farmers.
