BEIJING, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The Zhuhai National Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone in southern China's Guangdong Province has recently signed an agreement with Chinese hi-tech giant Huawei to jointly build Zhuhai into a global smart vision innovation demonstration city, reported Economic Information Daily Thursday.
At the same time, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Smart Vision Industry Alliance was also announced, which will focus on cultivating industrial ecological clusters of smart vision supply chain, technology chain and production chain in the area.
Smart vision is an important subdivision of artificial intelligence (AI) and one of the key underlying technologies for the building of smart cities. The Greater Bay Area has abundant talent reserves, supply chain resources and broad application scenarios in this field.
Huawei and Zhuhai will jointly build seven smart vision demonstration projects, hold industry summits, and build Huawei-Zhuhai smart vision joint innovation center, research and development (R&D) and manufacturing industrial base, industry alliance, and talent training base, said Peng Zhongyang, board director and president of the enterprise BG with Huawei.
Huawei has already conducted a pilot smart vision project at an intersection in the Zhuhai National Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, digitizing all behaviors of the intersection through "video plus radar plus AI plus edge computing". In the future, the company will help the zone create a holographic road network to improve traffic efficiency and reduce congestion.
