BEIJING, April 7 (Xinhua) -- North China's Shanxi Province received nearly 8.94 million visits during the Tomb-sweeping Day holiday, also known as Qingming Festival, bouncing back to 92.65 percent of the level in 2019, reported by Chinanews.com on Tuesday.
The total tourism revenue reached 4.672 billion yuan, up 26.85 percent from that in 2019 before the COVID-19 onslaught, according to the Culture and Tourism Department of Shanxi Province.
Among the visits, family trips accounted for 62 percent, and 73.61 percent of tourists chose to visit cultural attractions.
During the holiday, red tourism becomes very popular. The number of tourists has increased significantly in the red scenic spots.
In addition, Shanxi Province also launched a series of colorful activities including enjoying flowers and those in combination with traditional cultural themes.
