BEIJING, April 2 (Xinhua) -- China's second-hand car export market boasts huge development potentia even though it remainsin its infancy, Gao Feng, spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said at a press conference held on Thursday.
About 14.34 million used cars were traded in China last year. This indicated that China has sufficient supply for the export of second-hand cars, stated Gao quoting data from the China Automobile Dealers Association.
He added that China's second-hand vehicles are cost-effective and internationally competitive, thus becoming popular in developing countries.
Besides, China's automobile producers and exporters have established efficient international marketing and service networks, which enable them to provide comprehensive services for overseas consumers, said Gao.
Expanding the export of used cars is an important way to promote the upgrading of domestic automobile consumption and smooth the domestic and international circulation of automobile industry. Since 2019, the MOC, together with the Ministry of Public Security, the General Administration of Customs and other departments, has supported 30 regions to carry out second-hand car export business and achieved positive results, according to the spokesman.
On March 26, the MOC started soliciting public opinions on the quality standard for used passenger car export. Gao said that the main purpose is to regulate second-hand car export while ensuring the quality of export cars for overseas consumers. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, sudan@xinhua.org)
