BEIJING, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Shaanxi Province in northwest China registered 10.08 billion yuan of foreign trade volume with the Belt and Road (B&R) countries in the first two months of 2021, according to the local customs.
Shaanxi's trade volume with its major trading partners along the B&R such as the Republic of Korea (ROK), EU, ASEAN, the United States and Japan amounted to 12.79 billion yuan, 7.17 billion yuan, 5.92 billion yuan, 5.18 billion yuan and 3.16 billion yuan in the period, respectively.
During the same period, Shaanxi's total volume of import and export stood at 61.57 billion yuan, up 8.1 percent from a year earlier, of which the total volume of processing trade reached 31.2 billion yuan, accounting for 50.7 percent of the province's total in the period.
Under the complicated international trade situation, Shaanxi's foreign trade has bucked the trend in 2020, realizing an annual import and export volume of 377.21 billion yuan, hitting a record high.
Shaanxi Province will support more than 500 local enterprises to expand the international business through online exhibitions and other forms this year, according to Meng Jun, an official of Shaanxi Provincial Department of Commerce, who added that the province will also upgrade the capital city of Xi'an as a demonstration site of processing trade industry.
