Medical technology group Siemens Healthineers plans to raise 2.3 billion euros (2.7 billion dollars) through a capital increase, it announced on Wednesday.
The new shares will be offered to institutional investors, the Siemens subsidiary said. Healthineers plans to use the money to pay back part of the loan it received from its parent company for the purchase of the US-based radiation oncology specialist Varian.
The company, based in Erlangen, Germany, had announced the acquisition of the US company for 16.4 billion dollars last year.
It was the most expensive acquisition in the history of Healthineers.
