BEIJING, March 24 (Xinhua) --Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, saw a surge in China-Europe freight train trips so far this year, the Shaanxi Daily reported recently.
A China-Europe freight train loaded with 50 containers including compressors, high-voltage isolating switches, auto parts, and small household appliances, departed from Xi'an to Horgos Port in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on March 22.
As of March 22, China-Europe freight train (Xi'an) service handled overall 30,049 transport containers, up 24.36 percent year on year.
Since the launch of the China-Europe freight train service in the city on Nov. 28, 2013, the train service has seen rising trips year by year, with 15 cargo routes extending to Central Asia, South Asia, West Asia and Europe.
Last year, the Chang'an China-Europe freight train service operated 3,720 train trips, 1.7 times that of the previous year, with a total of 1,311 inbound trips for Xi'an.(Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
