BEIJING, March 18 (Xinhua) -- A total of 31 provincial-level regions in China have released targets for building 5G networks in 2021, with many of them specifying the number of 5G base stations to be built, reported China Securities Journal Thursday.
East China's Jiangsu Province plans to build 60,000 5G base stations this year, the highest among the 31 regions.
Central China's Hunan Province and Henan Province, and east China's Shandong Province are closely behind with construction targets setting respectively at 55,000, 50,000 and 40,000.
Some regions have even clarified the coverage of 5G signals, with many of them putting forward 5G signal coverage in towns and villages.
Shandong has proposed to realize full coverage of 5G signals in urban areas above the county level and extend to key villages and towns by the end of the year.
Henan has proposed to invest 13.2 billion yuan in 5G construction in 2021, raising the total number of 5G base stations to over 95,000 and achieving full coverage of 5G networks in villages and towns and rural hot spots.
Jiangsu has put forward to basically achieve full coverage of 5G networks in urban and rural areas and industrial parks throughout the province, and northeast China's Heilongjiang Province has put forward to realize basic coverage of 5G networks in areas above the county level and key villages and towns in the province.
A number of regions have also proposed to implement "5G plus industrial internet" projects this year.
East China's Zhejiang Province has proposed to improve the industrial internet platform system and implement the "5G plus industrial internet" project to form new technology integration application scenarios with large number and wide range.
Shandong requires the 2021 "5G plus industrial internet" special action be carried out in the province's communications industry, with typical application scenarios receiving rapid promotion and new projects increasing by more than 10 percent year on year.
Northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Regionand Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have both proposed to speed up the construction of "5G plus industrial internet" industrial ecology.
