BEIJING, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- The China-Europe freight trains departing from or arriving at Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, have made more than 8,000 trips so far.

A China-Europe freight train loaded with daily necessities, building materials, children's toys and other goods, departed from Xi'an to Kolyadichi in Belarus on Feb. 13, marking the 8,000th trip made by such trains running between the city and other European and Asian cities.

Earlier, the China Railway Xi'an Group estimated that during the Spring Festival holiday from February 11 to 17 this year, such China-Europe freight trains are expected to make 29 trips with the destinations covering Poland, Russia, Lithuania and other countries.

Since the launch of the China-Europe freight train service in the city on Nov. 28, 2013, the trains have seen rising trips year by year, with 15 trunk routes extending to Central Asia, South Asia, West Asia and Europe.

Since the beginning of 2021, the China-Europe freight trains (Xi'an) have made a total of 399 trips, of which there have been 237 outbound trips and 162 inbound trips, an increase of 46.8 percent and 52.8 percent, respectively, according to the China Railway Xi'an Group.
