BEIJING, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) --The consumer market in east China's Fujian province showed a recovery trend with total retail sales of consumer goods reaching 1,862.65 billion yuan in 2020, decreasing slightly by 1.4 percent from the previous year, which is lower than the national average decreae of 2.5 percent, reported by Fujian Daily on Tuesday.
In the consumer market, online retail has grown rapidly and new business formats have developed such as online shopping and live-streaming commerce. The province's rural online retail sales reached 269.8 billion yuan, ranking the third in China in terms of scale, with an increase of 28.6 percent year on year, whihc drove the simultaneous recovery of rural consumption and urban consumption.
In addition, green smart products were popular among consumer market. The retail sales of wearable smart devices and new energy vehicles by enterprises with annual sales of more than 5 million yuan increased by 54.4 percent and 28.8 percent year on year respectively.
In 2020, Fujian firmly implemented the strategy of expanding domestic demand and launched activities to promote consumption. Through the platforms established by government, associations and merchants participated in the activities and worked together to accelerate the release of consumption potential.
Up to now, more than 130,000 merchants have participated in the consumption activities during the Spring Festival in the province. The relevant government departments in various cities have organized more than 500 large-scale offline consumption promotion activities and more than 5,000 online live streaming activities, which effectively stimulated the consumption potential of residents.
