BEIJING, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- China has become the top market for French cosmetics, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities Journal reported.
Despite that French cosmetics exports suffered a severe blow due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, exports to China grew strongly last year, according to the French Federation for Beauty Companies.
Data showed that France exported more than 15.7 billion euro of cosmetic products last year, down 11.8 percent year on year.
However, French cosmetics exports to Asia was encouraging in 2020, especially exports to China, which registered a 20.7 percent year-on-year increase last year.
At present, China is the largest purchaser of French lipsticks, as more than a quarter of France's lipsticks were exported to China last year.
The French federation pointed out that the safety and innovation of French products are widely approved by Chinese consumers.(Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
