China's automobile commodities trade reaches USD151.4 bln in 2020, CAAM

Abstract : China's automobile commodities trade narrowed in 2020, with its total value of automobile commodities imports and exports reaching 151.4 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 4 percent, according to data provided by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) on Tuesday.

BEIJING, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's automobile commodities trade narrowed in 2020, with its total value of automobile commodities imports and exports reaching 151.4 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 4 percent, according to data provided by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) on Tuesday.

Specifically, automobile commodities import value amounted to 79.15 billion U.S. dollars, down 2.5 percent year on year; while automobile commodities export volume decreased 5.6 percent year on year to 72.25 billion U.S. dollars.

In 2020, a total of 933,000 vehicles were imported, a year-on-year decrease of 11.4 percent, the value of imported vehicles was 46.7 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 4.2 percent. A total of 1.082 million vehicles were exported, down 13.2 percent year on year.

In 2020, the import value of auto parts was 32.44 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 0.1 percent. The export value of auto parts was 56.52 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 6.2 percent.

China's auto market, hit hard by COVID-19, began to recover in April thanks to unleashed pent-up demand and supportive policies, according to the CAAM.
