BEIJING, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai pledged to boost the development of new energy vehicle (NEV) industry during 2021-2025 period, according to the new action plan which is pending to be published, reported the Xinhua-run cnstock.com Wednesday.
According to the action plan, the new energy vehicles are expected to cover public transportation, taxis and postal services by 2025. At the same time, 80 percent of NEV will be applied for sanitation vehicles in Shanghai.
In 2021, Shanghai will construct 10,000 public charging piles, 15 taxi charging stations, and 10 shared charging pile demonstration communities as part of effort to accelerate the development of NEV industry.
It is noted that Shanghai will implement a new energy license management policy from March in 2021. In the long term, building new infrastructure and reducing government subsidies will become an effective path to promote the sustainable development of the industry.
It is noted that the SAIC Motor, Shanghai's leading auto company vows to launch nearly 100 new energy products during 2021-2025, including nearly 60 independently developed NEV models. In 2020, the company's NEV sales surged 73.4 percent year on year to 320,000 units, ranking the top in Chinese market.
