BEIJING, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- South China's Guangdong Province will make efforts to promote the digital transformation of 15,000 industrial enterprises this year, according to the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province on Wednesday.
The province will accelerate the construction of new information infrastructure and the development of 5G industry in 2021, said the department.
Statistics show that the added value of industrial enterprises with more than 20 million yuan in annual revenue from their main operations in the province increased by 6.2 percent annually on average from 2016 to 2019. The province ranked first nationwide by the quantity of industrial enterprises above designated size and their operating income during the period.
It is worth noting that during the period, added value of advanced manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing industries accounted for 54.9 percent and 31.5 percent of that of all industrial enterprises above designated size in the province, respectively.
During the 13th Five-year Plan period from 2016 to 2020, Guangdong accelerated investment in fields such as new generation information technology, high-end equipment, and new materials. (Edited by Hu Pingchao with Xinhua Silk Road, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
