BEIJING, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) –Chinese government authorities have recently launched a bunch of measures to tap the consumption potential in rural areas, reported Securities Daily Wednesday.
The measures covers five major areas, including stabilizing and expanding automobile consumption, promoting household appliances and furniture consumption, facilitating the rural consumer makert, and strengthening policy guarantees.
It is noted that the measures focuse on improving the construction of rural consumer market system, calling for the expansion of county-level consumption to drive rural expenses, and to strengthen the construction of trade and logistic facilities in the rural areas.
While calling for efforts to facilitate rural consumption, China will enhance the transformation and upgrading of the agricultural supply chain, optimize the rural consumption environment, improve the coordinated supervision mechanism, and standardize the rural market order.
Fu Yifu, a senior researcher at Suning Institute of Finance, said that the measures will boost the rural consumer market and release the consumption potential of rural residents, which is of great significance to develop the domestic market.
Fu added that due to the large population in rural areas in China, the release of rural consumption potential is more conducive to facilitate the circulation of the national economy.
In terms of further promoting consumption potential in 2021, it is necessary for China to guide rational consumption and investment savings, promote the development of new consumption formats, and further improve the social security systems, said Liu Xiangdong, economic expert from China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE).
