BEIJING, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the International Cooperation Center of National Development and Reform Commission (ICC-NDRC) and Eni of Italy was signed by ICC-NDRC director general Huang Yong and Eni's chief executive officer Claudio Descalzi through video connection in the Italian Embassy in Beijing on Tuesday.
The cooperation is one of the important results of the 10th Joint Meeting of the China-Italy Joint Government Committee.
Under the framework of the MoU, the two sides will jointly promote the establishment of close cooperative relations between Eni and relevant departments, key provinces and cities, enterprises and institutions in China, and are committed to promoting the common goals of clean and low-carbon energy transformation, focusing on low-carbon energy sources, advanced technologies, circular economy and other major fields, jointly exploring potential collaboration opportunities and carrying out key project construction.
Meanwhile, the two sides vowed to actively expand third-party market cooperation projects, and jointly participate in the division and cooperation of international energy industry chain and value chain.
For the next step, under the guidance of NDRC, the ICC-NDRC will coordinate and organize relevant parties to work closely with Eni to jointly promote the implementation of the MoU.
As an important window and platform for NDRC to communicate and cooperate with foreign partners, ICC-NDRC plays a positive role in promoting communication and cooperation between the relevant departments, cities, institutions and enterprises of China and Italy, focusing on building new platforms and new channels. In recent years, ICC-NDRC has facilitated east China's Ningbo to establish the Belt and Road China-Italy (Ningbo) cooperation park and jointly better expand domestic market with Eni.
Eni, the second largest state-controlled investment group in Italy and the seventh largest oil group company worldwide, has branches in more than 40 countries around the world. The company entered the Chinese market in 1984 and has carried out close cooperation with PetroChina, CNOOC, Sinopec and other enterprises in oil exploration and exploitation, refining and marketing of petroleum products, and production and marketing of chemical products.
Eni's main business in China is in Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Qingdao, Huizhou and other places. In 2020, Eni set up a new representative office in Beijing to further expand green and low-carbon energy cooperation with Chinese partners.
