VIENTIANE, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- The founding ceremony for the Chinese government-aided Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union central activity center was founded recently in Lao capital Vientiane.
Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony held on Monday, Secretary-General of Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union's Central Committee Alounxay Sounnalath said that the project will provide young people of all ethnic groups in Laos with convenient venues and advanced facilities and equipment, and will promote the development of good interests and hobbies for Lao youth, help receive advanced scientific knowledge and improve various skills.
The Lao official said building a comprehensive activity center for Lao youths not only marks the further deepening of the friendship between Laos and China, but will also promote building the Laos-China community with a shared future based on the spirits of "good neighbors, good friends, good comrades, and good partners."
Zhao Wenyu, economic and commercial counselor of the Chinese embassy in Laos, said in his speech that the top leaders of China and Laos attach great importance to the cooperation between the youths and actively promote mutual exchanges, consultation, cooperation and common development.
The construction of the project is of great significance as another specific result of expanding youth cooperation between the two countries, said Zhao.
The project, with a total construction area of more than 7,000 square meters, is to built a main building of the activity center, and water pump room, low-voltage power distribution station, fountain, square, road, parking lot and other auxiliary facilities in 20 months.
Among them, the main building of the activity center mainly includes anti-drug exhibition room, reading room, multi-function hall, various training classrooms, offices and meeting rooms. Enditem
