BEIJING, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- China's milk output increased 8.1 percent year on year in the first three quarters of this year, an agriculture official said.
This represented the fastest growth for the past five years, according to Ma Youxiang, an official with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
In the first half of 2020, the proportion of fresh milk and dairy products that met the country's quality standards remained above 99 percent, Ma said.
North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is the country's major milk-producing area, with its milk output accounting for more than one-sixth of the country's total output. The ministry will continue to support the dairy industry in the region with more efforts to improve the quality and efficiency of milk production, Ma added. Enditem
