GUANGZHOU, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- South China's Guangdong Province saw its foreign trade total 5.68 trillion yuan (about 862 billion U.S. dollars) in the first ten months of the year, down 1.6 percent year on year, customs authorities said on Monday.
During the period, Guangdong's exports reached 3.46 trillion yuan, down 1.3 percent year on year, while its imports rose 2.1 percent year on year to 2.22 trillion yuan, according to the Guangdong branch of the General Administration of Customs.
From January to October, the total foreign trade volume of the province's private enterprises grew by 6.5 percent year on year to 3.14 trillion yuan, logging growth for six straight months and accounting for 55.2 percent of Guangdong's total.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) remains Guangdong's largest trade partner, with imports and exports totaling 865.14 billion yuan in the Jan.-Oct. period, up by 7.3 percent year on year. Enditem
