BEIJING, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's actual investment in Beijing hit 102.23 billion U.S. dollars in the first nine months of 2020, accounting for 52 percent of Beijing's total actual use of foreign investment and ranking first among countries and regions to invest in Beijing, said Li Zhijie, deputy secretary-general of Beijing municipal government during the press conference of the 23th Beijing-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium, reported Chinanews.com Monday.
By September 2020, a total of 17,077 Hong Kong-funded enterprises have settled in Beijing, accounting for 36 percent of the total number of foreign-funded companies in the city, and these companies are mainly in the real estate, leasing and business services, finance and information transmission, computer services and software industries.
At the same time, Beijing's direct investment in Hong Kong amounted to 36.44 billion U.S. dollars in January-September of 2020, accounting for 47.32 percent of Beijing's total outbound direct investment, which was mainly concentrated in information transmission, software and information technology services, culture, sports and entertainment, leasing and business services, and real estate.
The Beijing-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium has been held for 22 consecutive sessions, and has become a bridge between Beijing and Hong Kong to promote economic and trade cooperation.
The 23th Beijing-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium is planned to be held online from November 19 to 20 with the theme of "deepening high-level opening up and promoting high-quality development". A total of 15 events will be held during the symposium, including Beijing-Hong Kong Special cooperation activities in areas such as service industry, finance, technology and culture, and the signing ceremony of key projects for two-way investment between Beijing and Hong Kong.
