Noting China is the first major economy to grow since the start of the pandemic, German software giant SAP's global executive vice president Mark Gibbs said he believed that with China's strong purchase power, CIIE provides a great opportunity to help support the recovery and fuel growth of the global economy.

FRANKFURT, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- The German software giant SAP, also a participant in the third China International Import Expo (CIIE), hopes to enhance engagement with the Chinese government at all levels and deepen collaboration with Chinese enterprises, Mark Gibbs, global executive vice president of SAP, has said.

In a written interview with Xinhua ahead of the expo, Gibbs, also president of SAP Greater China, offered a glimpse of what SAP will showcase at CIIE this year.

"At our booth, we will provide delegates with immersive experiences in how SAP digital solutions can help build intelligent enterprises," Gibbs said, adding that SAP's journey of growth "in China for China" will be shown as well.

As a market leader in enterprise application software, the German company with over 100,000 employees worldwide had total revenue of nearly 28 billion euros (32.81 billion U.S. dollars) in 2019. It has been a part of CIIE since the expo was launched, noted Gibbs, who recognized that the "world-class platform for global trading" has helped SAP engage with other global businesses and form many significant partnerships with Chinese enterprises, beyond showcasing innovative technologies and digital solutions.

More importantly, Gibbs stressed, the fact that China is able to host CIIE as planned demonstrates the country's diligence and commitment, which has instilled great confidence in the global business community.

"Thanks to its successful containment of COVID-19 and significant stimulus efforts, China became the first major economy to grow since the start of the pandemic," said Gibbs. He believed that with China's strong purchase power, CIIE provides a great opportunity to help support the recovery and fuel growth of the global economy.

The import expo is creating a favorable market environment for multinational companies, Gibbs added.

The expo, slated to take place from Nov. 5 to Nov. 10, is expected to welcome 400,000 visitors.
