HANGZHOU, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- China's ceramic tea utensil industry is likely to see its sales income amount to 20.3 billion yuan in 2020.
Zhou Guofu, president of the China International Tea Culture Institute, said on Saturday that as China is a major tea producer and consumer in the world, and boasts profound tea culture, its tea utensil industry is also booming. According to statistics, the domestic sales of China's ceramic tea utensil industry stood at 19.78 billion yuan in 2019, and is expected to reach 20.3 billion yuan in 2020, marking a year-on-year increase of 1.92 percent.
China's status as a major producer of tea utensils has been established. There are a variety of tea utensils, such as celadon, white porcelain, black porcelain, color porcelain, red porcelain, as well as ceramic tea sets, stone tea sets, metal tea sets, glass tea sets, enamel tea sets, bamboo and wood tea sets, lacquered tea sets, and so on.
However, Zhou Guofu noted that there lack world-renowned brands and large international enterprises in this field in China. The cultural added value of tea appliances is not high. The products are not competitive in the global market, with product homogeneity prominent.
