BEIJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- About 108 million passenger trips by trains is expected to be made during the National Day holiday travel rush from September 28 to October 8, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News reported on Monday.
According to the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (China Railway), the number of daily passenger trips served by China's railways is expected to reach 13 million on October 1, a record daily high since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
From July 1 to August 31, a total of 456 million railway trips were made in China, data showed.
Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the number is below the 735 million railway trips registered in the same period last year. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
