BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai Tourism Festival, which was concluded on Sunday, saw a total of 3.5 million visitors, increasing 28 percent from the previous month, reported by Chinanews.com on Monday.
The festival held this year is considered as a safe and orderly tourism event with prosperous supply and demand, said Yu Xiufen, director of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism.
According to relevant data, the sales revenue of the accommodation industry increased by 21.6 percent year on year during the festival, which marked the first positive growth in 2020.
In addition, the sales revenue of the the artical performance increased by 9.6 percent year on year, and the animation and game industry sales revenue increased by 4.4 times.
The festival has achieved remarkable results in boosting consumption. According to the data from UnionPay Shanghai, the total amount of daily consumer transactions such as tourism, catering, and entertainment ticket sales in Shanghai hit 31.97 billion yuan from September 12 to 27, with a month-on-month increase of 35 percent.
During the festival, the cloud tourism platforms were also launched which brought together information of more than 100 offline activities and nearly 100 themed routes to customers covering key business districts, tourist attractions, and cultural venues in Shanghai, achieving a total of 117 million hits.
Shanghai is known as an urban tourism destination with abundant tourism resources. The tourism festival held this year has fully stimulated and released the vitality of the city and was expected to better serve the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
