SHENYANG, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Northeast China's Liaoning Province had built over 20,000 5G base stations by the end of August 2020, reported the Liaoning Daily Friday.
In 2020, the province completed the construction of 17,982 stations. According to the Liaoning Communications Administration, the number of 5G base stations in Liaoning has ranked the 9th place in the country, while that of the newly-built stations this year has ranked the 5th place nationwide.
The 5G construction in Dalian, a major coastal city in Liaoning, has remained at the forefront of the province. China Mobile's local branch has met the annual construction target set by the Dalian municipal government ahead of schedule, with major urban areas of the city and its subordinate counties all covered by 5G networks.
In recent years, Liaoning has accelerated the construction of 5G infrastructure by improving the efficiency of examination and approval procedures. The 5G technologies have been applied in various industries, such as education, medical treatment, manufacturing and transport.
